What to Expect During a Professional Radon Mitigation Installation

The Radon Guys - Radon Mitigation Installation

So, your radon test came back with elevated levels—now what? If you're feeling unsure about what comes next, you’re not alone. At The Radon Guys, we believe every homeowner deserves peace of mind and a clear understanding of the process.

Here’s exactly what you can expect during a professional radon mitigation installation, from start to finish.

Step 1: In-Home Evaluation

We start with a site visit and inspection of your home’s foundation, layout, and existing ventilation. Every home is different, so this step helps us determine the best mitigation method for you—typically sub-slab depressurization, the most effective and widely used system.

What we look at:

  • Basement or crawlspace type
  • Foundation cracks or sump pits
  • Layout for optimal system placement
  • Power source access and aesthetics

Step 2: System Design & Planning

Next, we design a custom system based on your home's needs. Our goal is to reduce radon levels below EPA’s action level of 4.0 pCi/L, and we often achieve even lower levels.

A good design ensures:

  • Efficient radon gas removal
  • Minimal impact on your living space
  • A clean, professional appearance

Step 3: Installation Day

Now it’s go-time! Most installations take just one day, and we do everything we can to minimize disruption to your home and routine.

Here’s what we do:

  • Drill a suction pit beneath the basement slab (or crawlspace liner)
  • Install the PVC piping system to vent radon gas safely above the roofline
  • Mount a radon fan to create suction that pulls radon from beneath the home
  • Seal foundation cracks or sump pumps to reduce radon entry

Expect light noise and some dust, but our techs work fast, clean, and professionally.

Step 4: System Testing & Final Walkthrough

After installation, we:

  • Verify suction and system performance
  • Review the entire system with you
  • Install a manometer (visual pressure gauge) so you can easily monitor the fan
  • Provide post-installation radon testing instructions (usually within 24-48 hours)

Step 5: Warranty & Support

At The Radon Guys, we stand by our work. Your system comes with a full warranty, and we’re always just a phone call away if you have questions or need maintenance down the road.

Your Peace of Mind Starts Here

Installing a radon mitigation system doesn’t have to be stressful. With The Radon Guys, you get expert service, clear communication, and lasting results—so you can breathe easy in every sense.
